Learning Techniques | The Power of Mindful Learning

Knowledge is POWER, ONLY when ACTING ON IT

While spending hours studying may seem productive, it becomes pointless if we fail to implement effective learning techniques adapted to our individual needs. We are all unique, therefore, we have distinct ways of processing and retaining information.

"It’s not about the number of hours spent or the number of books read. It’s about what we genuinely learn, comprehend & apply"

The actual importance lies in integrating these teachings into our daily routines. We must first develop self-awareness to unlock the power of mindful learning and productivity. Take the time to understand your unique learning style, whether visual, auditory, kinesthetic or a combination. 

Taking concise notes, creating mind maps, participating in discussions, or using digital tools are some of the different learning techniques you can implement to improve your comprehension and retention instead of cramming documents (that you will end up forgetting after a couple of days).

Another key takeaway that you must have in mind is TAKING ACTION

Spending hours learning, reading, and attending seminars will not set you on the path to success. If you want to create long-lasting changes, you must start implementing your knowledge into your everyday life, whether it's personal or professional (KNOWLEDGE WILL ONLY BECOME POWER WHEN APPLIED)

- VISUAL LEARNERS:
 Prefers to obtain information through diagrams, charts, and visual aids

- AUDITORY LEARNERS: Obtains information best through listening, lectures, and discussions.

- KINESTHETIC LEARNERS: Succeed when engaging in hands-on activities and experiential learning.

Procrastination, on the other hand, is one of the most common obstacles that delay us from reaching success. It is crucial to know when and how we sabotage ourselves to postpone tasks and instead learn how to take decisive steps to overcome them. One easy way to prevent this is to break down more extensive goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. This will help reduce overwhelm and will automatically create a sense of progress. Setting specific deadlines and having accountability partners are also great ways to provide extra motivation and battle procrastination.

As I mentioned, “Knowledge is power, only when acting on it”. In other words, knowledge without application becomes “limited” and has no value added. We automatically support these concepts when constantly applying all the terms or systems one learns. We are then quicker to identify or come up with solutions & answers to specific problems & gaps in our personal and professional lives.

Continuous learning is a lifelong plan, and embracing a growth mindset is essential. Recognising that knowledge is not fixed and develops through effort and practice empowers us to continue learning

Embracing challenges, seeking feedback, and maintaining curiosity is crucial to cultivating a growth mindset and achieving ongoing personal and professional development.
